Originally from the deep south of England (Portsmouth), I grew up by the sea – since the age of 18, however, I have been landlocked in and around the midlands! Having followed a call to serve as a University Chaplain at Keele, I arrived in the local area 11 years ago. During that time, I led a small team as we served God, supporting staff and students and ministering at Keele Chapel where, with my Anglican colleague, I had oversight of the TEN:15 Community – a diverse and inclusive Christian fellowship. In 2023 I was appointed to the role of Chaplain at the Queens Theological Foundation (Birmingham) where Anglicans and Methodists (alongside many others) train for ministry. This is a half-time role which I continue alongside serving in the Circuit, so I know the M6 well!
I am a Pastor at heart, I love to see and support the transformative work of God in people’s lives. I appreciate worship that touches the heart but also engages the mind. I seek to encourage faith that is open to God and to ‘life in its fullness’ offered through Jesus Christ (John 10:10). My own faith leads me naturally to be concerned about justice and peace, and I enjoy hearing about what faith means to people and how it shapes their lives. I have a long-time connection with the Iona Community and the Greenbelt Festival, both of which feed and challenge me in my ongoing discipleship.
I live a busy and full life, I enjoy spending time with my family: my wife, Sarah, and "children", Rebecca and Adam. I enjoy conservation volunteering at Silverdale Country Park, board and card games, TV dramas, comedy and music gigs, shows, and much, much more!
Ordained in 2004, I have previously served in the West Bromwich, Birmingham Elmdon/Birmingham Circuits, as well as the Free Church Chaplain at both Aston and Keele Universities. I serve this Circuit on a half-time basis, with particular responsibility at Higherland Methodist Church and in exploring missional opportunities at Baldwins Gate.
